A New Pixie Poet at Win's Books!

CORAZON STEGELIN NEWSLETTER

Hey folks! My name is Corazon Stegelin, and I am so excited to join the Win’s Books Fae-mily!

Much like our beloved Winnie, I am a pixie poet through and through. Winnie and I actually met at a fairy-themed poetry event that I hosted, and now we’re lucky enough to get to build a fairy-themed literary magazine together: The Writing Fae. The Writing Fae is easily one of the highlights of my life, and I will forever be grateful for the community and confidence it has brought me. I really grew into my wings through The Writing Fae, and I am beyond thrilled to share that my debut collection, Puddle Stomping Barefoot in My Party Dress, will be published by Win's Books in June of 2027!

Puddle Stomping Barefoot in My Party Dress is a memoir written in epistles (letters) and verse (poems) about my journey to self-love while living with borderline personality disorder. It is vulnerable, visceral, deeply confessional, and heartfelt, with a healthy dose of optimism too. This has been a labor of love for sure - I cried writing it more times than I care to admit - and by the time it's published, it will have been six years in the making. My hope for Puddle Stomping Barefoot in My Party Dress is that it will humanize and de-stigmatize borderline personality disorder so my fellow borderline readers can feel seen and understood, and find community and healing through being so seen. I also hope the book can educate loved ones of borderlines and the general public about this diagnosis.

Borderline personality disorder gets a bad rep...

...and it can be easy to feel hopeless when one receives their diagnosis. I initially ran from the diagnosis myself, and then felt for a long time that it was my sole defining characteristic. I understand now neither of these responses were warranted.

At its core, borderline personality disorder is a series of trauma responses. It was my mind's way of keeping me safe when safety wasn't always accessible, and it allows me to feel every emotion to its fullest extent. While it can certainly be exhausting, it is not actually anything to run away from, and it is certainly not my sole defining characteristic. There is so much more to me than my "disordered" personality, and I'm so grateful that I've learned to love all aspects of myself.

To my fellow borderline readers, please don't give up on yourselves. Hope and healing are possible for us, and I hope each of you finds a life full of glimmers. To the people who love borderlines, thank you for seeing our humanity; it means more than you will ever know. And to those new to borderline personality disorder, welcome. I promise we are not as scary as the world makes us out to be. Thank you for keeping your mind and heart open for us.

Happy reading folks! I can't wait to build community with all of you!
